Swedish Pathogens Portal Presentation (PLP retreat Sept 2023)

This presentation was given as a short talk at the 'SciLifeLab Pandemic Laboratory Preparedness' retreat on 31st August - 1st September 2023. The program is available at https://www.scilifelab.se/plp-retreat-2023/The talk is related to the launch and function of the Swedish Pathogens Portal. The Portal is the first national node of EMBL-EBI Pathogens Portal. The Portal facilitates the sharing and promotion of pandemic preparedness and infectious disease data from Sweden.The Swedish Pathogens Portal is maintained by the SciLifeLab Data Centre. It was initially launched in June 2020 as the Swedish COVID-19 Data Portal. It was the first national node of the European COVID-19 Data Platform. The scope of the Portal was expanded in 2022, when it became part of the SciLifeLab Pandemic Preparedness Program. Specifically, the Portal began to include data on pathogens other than SARS-CoV-2 and general pandemic preparedness topics (e.g. antibiotic resistance). The Portal relaunched in 2023 as the Swedish Pathogens Portal in order to ensure that the scope of the Portal was clear for users. It is an important 'next step' in ensuring that the Portal is an effective pandemic preparedness resource.
