Zusammenfassung: | The 2008 STEEP (ST. Elias Erosion/tectonics Project) Langseth cruise was part of a multi-disciplinary study to address the evolution of the highest coastal mountain range on Earth - the St. Elias Mountains of southern Alaska and northwestern Canada. The primary objectives for the marine seismic portion of STEEP include are threefold: 1) to image the offshore primary faults within and on the boundaries of the Yakutat Block, 2) to measure the velocity and thickness of the Yakutat crust, and 3) to image the sedimentary cover on the Yakutat Shelf and the sediments that make up the proximal part of the Surveyor Fan. |
