Zusammenfassung: | The present data reports a number of angiosoerm species recorded in Permanent Sample Plot (PSP) 82 which is sited in Usonigbe Forest Reserve, Edo State, Nigeria. The plot is situated within longitude 6.6342° N and latitude 5.9304° E in the South-Southern zone of Nigeria. Predominant wind directions are southwest and northwest. Geological formation is the costal plane sand and this sand consists of red earth and form a relatively thick series. The herbs are poor and consist of the following species sparsely distributed over the area: Dracaena sp, Aframomum sp, Palisita barteri, salacia spp, palisota ambigua and Psychotria sciadephora. The natural high forest has three strata of trees, viz the emergent consisting of trees whose crowns show above the general level of the canopy. The characteristics of the forest are the presence of a large number of wood climbers (Leaves) and (b) the incidence of buttresses of plank roots. The tallest trees of the emergent storey range to 150ft or more in height. The canopy at about 100ft or more is closest. The lower storey itself is about 30 to 50ft high. The present dataset contains 150 angiosperm records. |
