Zusammenfassung:Some 1168 silver fir trees from 24 natural populations sampled across italy and the Balkanian peninsula have been fully genotyped using a set of 16 SSR loci. Needles have been collected from georeferenced, individual trees in the forest, transported to the lab and kept at -80 °C for long-term storage. DNA has been extracted from each tissue sample for purpose of population genetic studies and evolutionary history reconstruction, and it is currently maintained at -20 *C for future research.
