Desarrollo de una plataforma para la distribución de contenidos audiovisuales utilizando MPEG-DASH

The growth in the consumption of audiovisual content over the Internet continues to grow year after year, thus users from around the world need that content is available for their connection and device needs. The concept of adaptive bitrate streaming appeared a few years ago and is a technique that allows to adjust the audiovisual content flow to each user. MPEG-DASH is the standard that was created to unify the various existing adaptive streaming proprietary techniques. This work consists firstly of a study of the standard, allowing subsequently creating a closed platform for distribution of MPEG-DASH audiovisual content. This platform, which will be formed by different software as a packager and several clients, allow us to evaluate the quality stream-switching algorithms. The platform will be created, allowing us to generate MPEG-DASH effective content from any original video. Moreover an evaluation of the quality stream-switching algorithms that implements the clients according to different network conditions and providing improvements to some of the situations will be performed. El crecimiento en el consumo de contenido audiovisual a través de Internet no para de crecer año tras año, con ello usuarios de todas partes del mundo necesitan que ese contenido esté disponible a sus necesidades de conexión y dispositivo. El concepto de streaming con bitrate adaptativo apareció ya hace unos años y es una técnica que permite ajustar el flujo del contenido audiovisual a cada usuario. MPEG-DASH es el estándar que nació con el objetivo de unificar las distintas técnicas propietarias de streaming adaptativo ya existentes. Este trabajo consiste primeramente en un estudio del estándar, permitiendo a posteriori la creación de una plataforma cerrada de distribución de contenidos audiovisuales MPEG-DASH. Esta plataforma, que estará formada por diferente software como un segmentador y varios clientes, nos permitirá la evaluación de los algoritmos de cambio de calidad. Se conseguirá crear dicha plataforma, pudiendo crear contenido MPEG-DASH eficaz a partir de cualquier video original, realizando después una evaluación de los algoritmos de cambio de calidad que implementan los clientes según distintas condiciones de red y aportando mejoras para alguna de las situaciones.
