J. S. Mill: Utilitarismo e justiça

Meu propósito neste texto é analisar algumas nuanças do utilitarismo, com especial enfoque nas ideias estabelecidas por Mill, avaliando as possibilidades de um utilitarismo que seja compatível com as exigências próprias da justiça. Tais análises proporcionarão compreender os motivos que levaram o filósofo britânico a defender os pressupostos fundamentais da ética e política em bases utilitaristas. My purpose in this paper is to analyse some utilitarian nuances, with special focus on ideas established by Mill, evaluating the possibilities of a utilitarianism that would be compatible with the demands of justice. The analysis aims at the understanding of the reasons that led the British philosopher to defend the fundamental presuppositions of ethics and politics on utilitarian grounds.
