Desigualdades mundiales ante el proceso de envejecimiento demográfico

The aim of this study is to make a brief analysis of the demographic ageing process from a worldwide perspective, paying particular attention ¡o the social inequalities accompanying it. We establish an analytical framework in order to understand that both the population figures by age and the meaning of these figures and their social consequences always depend on other factors. We illustrate the analysis with data concerning different countries and areas of the world. We also pay attention to the inequalities found in rich societies, where demographic ageing is more marked. In conclusion, we make sorne considerations of the possible effects that economic migration has on the population structure of countries.
