Zusammenfassung:In the course of our search for neuroprotective agents of microbial origin against kainateinduced neurotoxicity, we have succeeded in the isolation of two new bicyclohexapeptides, neuroprotectins A and B, together with a known compound, complestatin, from the fermentation broth of Streptomyces sp. Q27107. They are closely related in structure to complestatin and possess an oxindolylalanine moiety in place of the tryptophan residue present in complestatin.
