Zusammenfassung:The arteriovenous fistula in the tobacco fossa is a preferable site for creating initial vascular access in dialysis patients because it provides a wide puncture site and is unlikely to cause a steal phenomenon. There are few reports on the patency rate of vascular access intervention for arteriovenous fistulas in the tobacco fossa, so we investigated the patency rate of vascular access intervention for arteriovenous fistulas in the tobacco fossa. The subjects were 151 patients who underwent initial vascular access intervention for arteriovenous fistula at our hospital. Patients were divided into two groups: tobacco fossa arteriovenous fistula group (tobacco fossa group, N=25) and non-tobacco fossa arteriovenous fistula group (non-tobacco fossa group, N=126), and the one-year patency rate was investigated. The one-year patency rate was 64.0% in the tobacco group and 59.5% in the non-tobacco group, with no significant difference (P=0.68). There was no significant difference in the patency rate of vascular access intervention for tobacco fossa arteriovenous fistulas compared to arteriovenous fistulas at other sites.
