Khirbat Lasan

During February-March 2009, a trial excavation was conducted along the western fringes of Khirbat Lasan (Permit No. A-5607; map ref. 160775-1049/601195-791), prior to the construction of the Ashqelon-Be'er Sheva' railroad track. The excavation, undertaken on behalf of the Israel Antiquities Authority and underwritten by the Israel Railroad Authority, was directed by G. Seriy, with the assistance of Y. Baumgarten, A. Fraiberg, I. Peretz, E. Aladjem and A. Weitzman (area supervision), A Kliorin, Y. Rodeshkovski, S. Gendelman and E. Pohomov (assistant area supervisors), Y. Lender (administration), V. Essman, M. Koening, M. Kipnis and T. Kornfeld (surveying) and P. Fabian (guidance, metal detection and preliminary identification of coins).
