Zusammenfassung: | The distribution behavior of mutagenic compounds formed during carbonization process of cypress wood was investigated by examining the mutagenicity of the carbonized woods, and gaseous and tar-like compounds (by-products) from the wood carbonization. The examination results showed that the mutagenic compounds were mainly transferred into the gas phase, and so these compounds are expected to be direct-acting mutagens causing base-pair substitution. To produce carbonized wood for recycling waste wood, a gas collector for removal of the gaseous compounds from the carbonization is required, and also must be followed by the suitable treatment of the collected mutagenic compounds. |
