Zusammenfassung:A rare case of primary malignant lymphoma of the large bowel with myelodysplastic syndrome is presented. A 57-year-old man who was treated in the outpatient clinic for myelodysplastic syndrome complained of abdominal pain. A mass of 10×10 cm in the right lower abdomen was evident at palpation. A malignant lymphoma of the cecum extending to the ascending colon was suspected as a result of examinations (barium enema, colonoscopy, computed tomography etc.). At surgery, a huge mass, 13.5×8.5×5.5 cm in size, was found on the cecum and adjoining the ascending colon. No ascites or mesenteric lymph node swelling was evident. Right hemicolectomy with lymph node dissection (R3) was performed. Histological examination of the mass revealed a malignant lymphoma of diffuse medium cell type according to the Lymphoma Study Group classification. Local radiotherapy was done postoperatively. The patient is well without any sign of recurrence 10 months after surgery.
