Zusammenfassung: | In this paper, I examine the relationship between spouse selection and the issue of ethnicity for Korean residents in Japan through analysis of the readers' columns about the ‘marriage problem’ found in Toitsunippo (Unification Daily). This analysis shows that spouse selection was not oriented to an individualism but rather to strengthening a new ideology of the family. While endogamy within the Korean residents in Japan is actually on the decline, this is related through a reconstruction of family and ethnicity. |
