Zusammenfassung: | Reading clubs have a notable influence on promoting the habit of literary reading in Brazil. This article presents results of a study that mapped Brazilian reading clubs, as part of the dissertation research entitled: "Reading clubs: proposal for an application for managing and sharing literary readings and encouraging reading," within the scope of the Postgraduate in Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer for Innovation (PROFNIT) from the Federal University of Maranhão (UFMA). The central objective of this work consisted of identifying and compiling the main characteristics of active reading clubs until collecting data for mapping the aforementioned research. The study used a qualitative and descriptive approach, with a technical bibliographical research procedure, whose data collection used questionnaires on Google Forms aimed at reading club coordinators/mediators. Based on the results, the research reached a representative portion of the reality of reading clubs. Within the universe of 124 book clubs identified, a response rate of 43% was achieved, which corresponds to a substantial number of book clubs. The study emphasizes the relevance and cultural potential of reading clubs to encourage reading in Brazil. |
