Zusammenfassung: | INTRODUCTION: Sepsis is a remarkable disease due to its cause of increased morbidity and mortality. Melatonin is a hormone secreted from the pineal gland and previous reports demonstrated its effects on the immun function. The aim of this study was to investigate whether the change of septic response acccording to TNF-α, IL-6, IL-10 ve IL-1β levels in pinealectomised (PLT) rats. METHODS: For this purpose, three different groups as SHAM, PLT-CLP and SHAM PLT-CLP were formed. In the PLT-CLP group, both PLT and cecal ligation puncture (CLP) model were applied. Six rats were randomly selected from each group at before and 12th and 24th hours after CLP administration. Blood TNF-α, IL-10, IL-6 and IL-1β levels were measured and liver and kidney gene expression levels of the same parameters were determined. RESULTS: In the PLT-CLP group, TNF-α at the 12th hour and IL-1β and IL-6 levels at 12th and 24th hours were significantly increased and IL-10 level was decreased at the 24th hour (p |
