Zusammenfassung:Comic books were, for a long time, marginalized and framed as an empty, contentless form of entertainment. However, they are currently read by people of all ages and all over the world. As a consequence of this, comics began to gain prominence, marking their presence in schools and being used to encourage the practice and taste for reading on the part of children and adolescents, showing themselves not only in works originally created in this format, but also in adaptations of literary classics, such as The Alienist, by Machado de Assis. The research, therefore, aims to address adaptations of classic titles, with the aim of showing how they, when used together with the original works, can instigate and encourage reading, with comparative elements as the analysis composition. At the end of the research, the main result of the investigation will consist of demonstrating the use of these texts to encourage literary reading, making use of previous strategies, involving pre-reading, reading and post-reading.
