Osmanlı Tarihçiliğinin Sahib-kıranı: Cornell Fleischer (1950-2023)

Cornell H. Fleischer, one of the greatest masters of Ottoman historiography in recent times, passed away on April 24, 2023. Fleischer elevated Ottoman historiography to a higher level and was an irreplaceable scholar with his contributions to history, teaching, and friendship. In his publications, lectures, and conversations, he illuminated his surroundings with his profound knowledge, making him a unique figure. It is an honor to have been one of his students, and it is possible to approach Cornell Fleischer from various different angles. Here, I will briefly mention his academic work and contributions to Ottoman historiography through his lectures.
