Zusammenfassung: | This paper addresses the subject of
self-learning, and it underscores the paramount
importance of guidance for its development during
the processes of teaching and learning. The concept
of “self-learning” encompasses three main abilities:
autonomy, metacognition, and self-regulation, which
lead to a self-learning process. This definition has
roots in the teaching theory, and all its elements are
linked to the self-learning abilities underlying. It is
vital to state that the great importance of the teacher
role during this process, since they will provide all the
necessary learning tools for the students to become
active during the learning process. Therefore, it is
confirmed that the self-learning process is not a path
for the student to walk alone; a guidance is required
for its development. Similarly, to acquire self learning
abilities will allow students to achieve an
active role during the learning process, which will
also lead to develop a critical thinking. As a result,
students will not only acquire abilities for academical
purposes, but also a set of personal and professional
skills. Likewise, some teaching practices that can
be adopted to support the self-learning process are
procured. |
