Zusammenfassung:The phenomenal sales, within the evangelical market, of prints by Ron DiCianni have made him one of the most commercially successful Christian artists of his time. An analysis of his immensely popular Heroes paintings reveal a pitch-perfect rhetoric of hypermasculinity that projects a Christian Right model of manhood embraced by many evangelicals in the early twentiety-first century. This article is thus an important corrective to scholarship that understates, if not neglects, the role of Christian Right ideology in the construction of evangelical ideals of masculinity.
