Zusammenfassung: | The primary analysis of a part of the inventory from the unique barrow from Skardelies Wald burial
ground in the article allows us to attribute the bulk of this material to the products of the Baltic masters who
reproduced their vision of the German pictorial tradition of the Merovingian era. This fact, as well as the Prussian
ceremony, according to which the soldiers were buried in this grave, make it possible to consider the fact of the
residence of the Scandinavians buried here in the Prussian encirclement proven. This environment tried to supply
these leaders with the last path in accordance with their funeral traditions, but with inventory made on Germanic
semantic and visual motives. The dates of the individual components of this complex make it possible to attribute
its construction to the end of 6th – half of 7th centuries. |
