Zusammenfassung:Objective: To evaluate the self-perception of genital appearance, in patients with different degrees of protrusion of the labia minora in the Gynecology Service of the Central Hospital of Maracay, between June-November 2021. Methods: This is a descriptive and correlational study, with a field design, cross section and prospective. The sample was deliberate non-probabilistic, made up of 132 patients whose gynecological examination showed protrusion of the labia minora. Self-perception was measured using the Modified Lip Cosmetic Procedures Screening Scale (COPS-L). Results: a mean age of 36.67 years ± 1.02 was recorded. Mostly housewives (59.09%); with symmetrical vaginal lips (78.03%) and with protrusion of the labia minora grade II (70.45%). A maximum lip length of less than 3.22 cm ± 0.07 was recorded. A moderate disagreement was found with the appearance of the genitals (42.42%); the sample did not consider a surgical treatment necessary to correct your labia minora (41.67%). Functional (16.67%) and aesthetic (15.91%) reasons are among the reasons why surgical treatment is justified. Conclusion: A statistically significant association was found between conformity with the appearance of the genitalia and symmetry, with the degree of protrusion and with the need for surgical treatment (p < 0.05).
