Zusammenfassung:We conducted a questionnaire survey on the present conditions of alaryngeal communication, voice club participation and swallowing function after total laryngectomy between 1995 and 2008 in our hospital. The number of valid answers was 158 patients. Alaryngeal communication in esophageal speech ratio was 37%, a lower ratio compared with our past reports. One factor in the increase in hypopharyngeal cancer resection range was considered to be patient aging. Differences in the surgical treatment for hypopharyngeal cancer such as reconstruction materials, each equivalent substitute for alaryngeal communication, content of diet, dysphagia, but outer thigh skin flap and forearm skin flap with high frequency of passing fault and meal time prolongation was seen with free jejunum.
