Two new foraminiferal taxa from coastal Venezuela: the new miliolid genus Neopateorislopsis n.gen., and the new lituolid species Haplophragmoides venezuelanus n. sp

Two new foraminiferal taxa are described from a site at Chichiriviche de La Costa, Venezuela, at 40 m water depth. The new miliolid foraminiferal genus, Neopateorislopsis n.gen. and its species, N. chichirivensis n. gen., n. sp. is proposed and described herein. The new genus is related to Neopateoris Bermúdez and Seiglie 1963, but differs from it by the presence of ribs along all chambers and the lack of apertural teeth. The new lituolid species Haplophragmoides venezuelanus n.sp. is described herein, characterized by its thin wall, large aperture, and evolute coiling.
