Training Extension Course for Engineers in Medium and Small Enterprises in Shuunan Area

Shuunan is a great integrating area of technology and enterprises in Yamaguchi prefecture. Viewing its medium and small enterprises totally, they are doing their businesses as a subcontractor to a big business of seaside process industry and, therefore, required to develop their industrial structures adaptable to a state-of-the-art technology and a high technological society of technology-development type. In medium and small enterprises facing the problem of shortage of young laborers, they are trying to cope with it by means of the refresh education of persons of medium or advanced age, but, there is a limit to try to cope with everything only by their in-house educations. Hence, a big expectation is placed on Tokuyama College of Technology, unique advanced educational institution of technology in Shuunan area. The background, problems, results, future themes and prospect of the refresh education carried out in our college are described in this report.
