Control of Kanzawa Spider Mite, Tetranychus Kanzawai KISHIDA, on Strawberry by Phytoseiulus persimilis ATHIAS HENRIOT, and Effects of Smoking Agents on Both Species

Phytoseiulus persimilis ATHIAS-HENRIOT was released for controlling of Kanzawa spider mite, Tetranychus kanzawai, KISHIDA on strawberry in a greenhouse, but no controlling effects were found. It is probably because of low temperature in the greenhouse or a high density of T. kanzawai. Two smoking agents of pyrethroid affected T. kanzawai but did not P. persimilis. The distribution pattern of T. kanzawai was analyzed by Iwao's m-m method, they contagiously distributed at a low density and randomly distributed at a high density. The same analysis revealed that the distribution pattern of P. persimilis depended on that of the prey, T. kanzawai.
