Zusammenfassung:The flow pattern of the particles in a moving bed reactor was investigated. When the particles are discharged through slits at the bottom of the two dimensional reactor, moving and stagnant regions are formed in the moving bed. The boundary of the moving and atagnant region was measured in order to obtain the correlation between the mean principal stress of the particles and stress parameter relating to the direction of the principal stress. The obtained correlation was applied to predict the stagnant region for the particles of different size and shape, flowing in a large scale reactor. The predicted and measured results were in good agreement. Furthermore, the method proposed was applied to predict the motion of the particle in the reactor with a rectifier installed at the upside of the discharge port. The agreement between the predicted and measured boundaries of the stagnant region were also fairly good.
