Effects of planting date on strawberry yield in the planting year, days to fruit maturity, plant stand, and second-year yields

The planting year yields of strawberry (Fragaria × ananassa Duch.) cultivars were not large enough to be of commercial value. Days to fruit maturity in the planting year decreased with each delay in planting date. Second-year yields were affected by planting date. Maximum yields were obtained by planting between mid-May and mid-June. Runner number and total yield were correlated in 1970 and in 1971; fruit size and yield in 1971.
