Peer Health Mediator: A New Recovery-oriented Paradigm

In his role as psychiatrist, the head of a day hospital, in Mulhouse, a French city, Dr Fattah’s team included M. Senadla as Peer Help mediator. The author’s personal experience working with this former patient as a recovery agent gives an overview of the peer health mediator’s role, its benefits, and how it can be used to improve mental health care. This new management paradigm involving a stabilized patient could promote patient and family empowerment, leading to better social and professional rehabilitation of people suffering from psychiatric disorders.
