Zusammenfassung: | Pulmonary osseous metaplasia is the term used to describe the formation of mature bone tissue inside the lung parenchyma. It is a rare disorder that has been linked to chronic lung diseases such as bronchiectasis, pneumonia, and pulmonary fibrosis. Disseminated ossification of the lung is mostly related to two patterns namely dendriform and nodular. It is a postmortem discovery that is extremely uncommon in living people. A 41-year-old man with pulmonary osseous metaplasia is the subject of our current study. Lung transplantation was performed on the patient, who had history of type II respiratory failure and pulmonary fibrosis. Transplant lung was received by the pathology department. On the basis of histomorphological features, pulmonary osseous metaplasia (nodular type) was incidentally discovered. Radiology plays an important role in detecting pulmonary ossification, but histopathological confirmation is diagnostic. Conclusion of our study is that histopathology plays a crucial role in incidental detection of various pathologies. |
