Zusammenfassung: | Actinomycetoma is a chronic subcutaneous infection caused by aerobic bacteria of genus Nocardia . Nocardia species commonly affects immunocompromised patients but can rarely infect immunocompetent individuals. An agriculturist aged about 40 years presented with swelling and multiple sinuses with serous discharge on the left shoulder region. The pus sample yielded Nocardia brasiliensis by conventional culture techniques. We present a rare case of recurring nocardial mycetoma in an immunocompetent person. |
