Zusammenfassung: | Peribulbar anesthesia is a common regional block in intraocular surgeries with an excellent safety profile. We report a rare case of contralateral loss of accommodation and extraocular muscle palsy following peribulbar block (PBB). A patient with right-eye pterygium was planned for pterygium excision with conjunctival autograft under PBB. After PBB, the patient developed blurring of vision and loss of extraocular muscle movements in the contralateral eye. Contrast-enhanced computed tomography scan of the brain and orbit was unremarkable. The patient was stabilized, and surgery was deferred. The patient’s vision and extraocular movements returned spontaneously after 4–5 hours. |
