Relationship between time-dependent change in effluent interleukin-6 (IL-6) and peritoneal function
Since IL-6 can be determined in CAPD effluent regardless of treatment duration, we investigated the clinical relevance of effluent IL-6. First, IL-6 was measured hourly after 2L PD2 with 2.5% glucose was infused for 8 hours in 5 patients without episodes of peritonitis (CAPD duration: 26.1±11.1 mont...

Zusammenfassung: | Since IL-6 can be determined in CAPD effluent regardless of treatment duration, we investigated the clinical relevance of effluent IL-6. First, IL-6 was measured hourly after 2L PD2 with 2.5% glucose was infused for 8 hours in 5 patients without episodes of peritonitis (CAPD duration: 26.1±11.1 months), to find the peak IL-6 concentration at 6 hours. Secondaly, longitudinal study to observe effluent IL-6 from the beginning of CAPD treatment was conducted in 11 patients. Effluent IL-6 was high just after initiation of CAPD, then decreased for 6 months and remained at a low level. Significant (p |
