Siglaison de la cause palestinienne. Un cas d’exception

The use of acronyms and initialisms in Arabic is rare, yet quite ubiquitous in the discourse of the Palestinian question. This paper examines the emergence of such an exception, the genesis of these acronyms and the role they play in the political semantic field. Being homonyms acronyms of preexisting, these acronyms are fraught with glorious historical references and socio-cultural connotations. This paper is an attempt to explore the political and discursive instrumentality of acronyms.
