Jean Dupuy, New York, 1990 © Wilfrid Rouff Jean Dupuy’s career (1925-2021) began with twenty years of “peinturlure”, to borrow his own word, in the wake of Lyrical Abstraction, by striking up a friendship with Jean Degottex in the 1950s. Returning to France from an invitation to New York, he decided to leave Paris and abandon painting. A year later, in 1968, he produced one of his major works, Cone Pyramid (Heart beats dust), which would earn him the prize awarded by E.A.T. (Experiments in Ar...
