A Case of Intussusception in an Adult Due to Transverse Colon Cancer Treated by Laparoscopic-Assisted Surgery

A 56-year-old woman visited a general practitioner because of lower abdominal pain. Colonoscopy showed a type Isp tumor located on the transverse colon and histological examination revealed tubulovillous adenoma. She visited our hospital for endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD). But colonoscopy at our hospital showed that the tumor had infiltrated deeper than the submucosal layer, so we performed a laparoscopic operation. Intraoperatively, we found intussusception of the transverse colon. It was reduced with Hutchinson's technique, then laparoscopic-assisted resection of the transverse colon was performed. The pathological examination revealed carcinoma in adenoma. The postoperative course was uneventful. She was discharged on the 10th postoperative day from our hospital.
