Zusammenfassung: | Ocular complications of ulcerative colitis, eppiscleritis, iritis, uveitis have been known, but optitis associated with ulcerative colitis is very rare and only 2 cases have been reported. A case of bilateral optic nerve atrophy associated with ulcerative colitis was reported herein. The patient was a 14-year-old female who had ulcerative colitis in Sept. 1994 and had been treated with Salf apyridine and steroid orally and rectally since Oct. 1994. In 1995, she complained of decreased visual acuity of her right eye and optic nerve atrophy was identified. Subsequently, she noted blurred vision of her left eye due to asoptic nerve atrophy. As the results of various in vestigations, other disorders, which can induce optic nerve atarophy, wer not found; therefore, optitis was thought to be associated with ulcerative colitis. |
