A Case of Pregnancy Following Restorative Proctocolectomy

A case of pregnancy following restorative proctocolectomy was reported. A 35 years old female noted mucobloody stools, abdominal pain and fever and was diagnosed as ulcerative colitis in 1984. Since then, she repeated clinical relapse and remission and hospitalized three times. She was referred to us and underwent restorative proctocolectomy on July 1990. She was discharged from the hospital in a month and soon started to work as school teacher. Two years and three months after the operation, she was delivered a child by Cesarean section. Both mother and the child had no complications and have been doing well. This case was the first successful delivery following restorative proctocolectomy in Japan.
