Ground nesting of the Japanese Brown Thrush

A rare case of ground nesting by the Japanese Brown Thrush, Turdus chrysolaus, in Yamanashi Pref. is reported. The chicks seemed growing better than in normal branch nest; possibly the parents fed them easier at this ground nest.
