Assessment of 2D and 3D Data Acquisition in the Vicinity of Intense Accumulation of 18F-FDG in PET/CT Examination

Zusammenfassung:In the vicinity of intense accumulation of 18F-FDG, 3D acquisition data caused false-negative and false-positive findings. On the other hand, 2D acquisition date showed little or no false-negative findings or false-positive. Combination of 3D and 2D acquisition images seem to be able to compensate mutual drawbacks. In actual clinical practice, whole-body image was taken with 3D acquisition at first, and then sequential 2D acquisition images were added when the metabolically abnormal foci showed intense accumulation of 18F-FDG.
