Zusammenfassung:The excellent corrosion resistance is the fundamental requirement for the practical magnetic media. The corrosion behavior of sputtered C/CoNiCr/Cr thin film in 80°c. 80%RH environment were investigated in terms of AES, SIMS and VSM. The results show that the cobalt signal is clearly detected on the carbon surface after only 1.5 hours exposure. The diameter of cobalt rich particales spreaded on the carbon surface is in the rang of 150 to 250 A. These particles grow up and cover the whole sample surface with the increase of testing time. when the Co oxide film become thicker, the magnetization strength of recording media is reduced. This corrosion process is electrochemical type.
