Zusammenfassung: | The hypothesis of the Developmental Origins of Health and Disease (DOHaD) reports that environmental factors acting during fetal and infantile life are risk factors for some chronic diseases. It suggests that premature birth and low birth weight affect renal function. However, little information in this regard has been reported in Japanese children. This study examined the estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) and serum creatinine levels in 151 children born before 35 weeks of gestation.The results showed that eGFR at 2 years of age was significantly correlated with the birth weight and gestational age.
