Zusammenfassung:Model tests were conducted to observe the soil movement around helical wing, in order to investigate the penetration mechanism of screw pile. In the tests, to observe the soil movement from the inside of pile shaft by the fiberscope, the translucent acryl pipe and the polished rice were replaced for the pile and the soil, respectively. The results show the streams of rice particles around the helical wing, and how the cavernous zone propagates with the penetration of pile. Finally, we have discussed the effect of the space of helical wing upon the efficiency of penetration of screw pile.
