Zusammenfassung:Seismic retrofit method by attaching external braced steel frame to existing concrete building has a significant advantage in that the construction can be done without interfering the use of building. For retrofitting the existing RC building by using the attached external frame, the Japanese Building Disaster Prevention Association has published a design manual. However, the recommendations in the current design manual are not sufficient for low strength concrete and Diamond Type Bracing.
