Zusammenfassung:The article examines the spread of Chinese opera of the European type abroad in the end of the 20th - beginning of the 21st century. It is noted that in the 1990s this genre received worldwide recognition. In those years, the Chinese opera of the “new wave” was formed, which used features and techniques characteristic of Western modernism, postmodernism and the avant-garde. Such operas as “The Plain”, “The Poem of the Maiden Mulan”, “Farewell, My Concubine”, “Marco Polo”, “The First Emperor”, “Tea - is the Mirror of the Soul” and others have gained great fame in other countries.
