Zusammenfassung:The quality of the surface layer in shot treatment is considered. An individual interaction of a ball with the surface of the treated part is investigated. Formulas are presented for the mean deviation of the roughness profile, the depth of the hardened layer, and the degree of hardening. These formulas are verified experimentally and may be used in the design of shot-treatment processes, to predict the roughness and the depth and degree of hardening of the treated surface.
