Examination of factors contributing to the prognosis in TACE treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma

Zusammenfassung: | The goal of this study is to identify preoperative factors that influence prognosis in TACE of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Between April 2014 and April 2021, 106 consecutive patients underwent TACE for HCC. We discovered that albumin, ALBI score, AFP, tumor number, and Up-to-7 were useful factors in univariate analysis; albumin (p = 0.025), AFP (p = 0.000), and tumor number (p = 0.000) were useful factors in multivariate analysis. We compared the relationship between two tumor factors (tumor number and tumor diameter) and selective embolization. The AUC of tumor number was 0.754 and that of tumor diameter was 0.693, with tumor number being higher. It has been proposed that tumor number, rather than tumor diameter, is a better predictor of TACE prognosis. It is considered to be one of the reasons why tumor number has a stronger effect on selective TACE. |
