Clinical and antiviral effect of 28 times interferon administration therapy for chronic hepatitis B: Study on both patients with HBeAg and patients with antibody of HBeAg

Zusammenfassung: | We studeid clinical effect of twenty-eight times of interferon (IFN) administration for chrcanic hepatitis B. At 1 year after the termination of IFN therapy, only 1 of 29 HBeAg positive cases judged as a responder (positive for anti-HBe, loss of serum HBV-DNA polymerase, and normalization of aminotransferase). In 10 anti-HBe positive cases the rate of responder was 30% at 1 year after the therapy, and responder rates were higher than those in HBeAg positive cases at all points of evaluation. We concluded that IFN theapy is effective for anti-HBe positive cases, however, 28 times administration is absolutely insufficient for chronic hepatitis B especialy in HBeAg positive cases. Moreover, on the estimation of antiviral therapy for this disease, continuous normalization of aminotransferase would must be considered as well as virus markers. |
