Zusammenfassung: | A 55-year-old woman was referred to our clinic for evaluation of the cystic tumor of the liver. Although the imaging methods including hepatic angiography revealed a large hypovascular cystic tumor in the lateral segment of the liver, the preoperative diagnosis was not determined. The resected specimen revealed a blood-filled multicystic tumor with sharp boundaries. Histologically, the tumor was composed of an almost solid sheet of monotonous cells. In some areas there were numerous thin-walled blood vessels. A pseudopapillary appearance with vascular core was noted in some sections. There was almost no supporting collagenous stroma. The neoplastic cells were relatively small and generally rounded, but had ill-defined outlines. The cytoplasma was eosinophillic. Nuclei were irregularly round, moderately chromatic and had small inconspicuous nucleoli. No recurrence has been documented either clinically or on follow-up CT scans in the four years since surgery. |
