Zusammenfassung: | During the 1990s fundamental political and socioeconomic reforms affecting demographic processes occurred in Georgia and throughout the former USSR, leading to sharp, sudden changes in the demographic situation. The first point that attracts attention is the considerable increase in emigration-in particular, a negative net migration. We have written about this elsewhere [1, pp. 186-91], and here we merely point out that official statistics [2] differ considerably from experts' calculations and estimates [3, 4, 5]. |
