Zusammenfassung:If we are to develop a scientifically based methodology for teaching foreign languages, we need not only to understand the laws governing acquisition of speech skills and abilities, but also to have a clear idea of the speech production mechanism in both foreign and native languages. The more precise our understanding of these issues, the greater will be our ability to develop an appropriate methodology, and the more effective the instruction process will eventually be.
